Version 1.8.5.2: February 2, 2010
Another fix to occasional "hanging" of WxSolution on startup with Vantage Pro using 1.8.5/1.8.5.1.
Updates to Mail feature to support Windows 7 Live Mail. Note that the selecting Contacts GUI does not work -- must enter Contacts manually.
Fixed Soil Temperature mean that is sent via WxClient. Also requires update to WxClient (1.8.5).
Fixed saving of FTP password to Registry. However, you may have to re-enter the password and save changes before using the FTP feature.
Updated Wind Rose to include 16 sector summation.
Fixed sending of monthly mail reports when monthly FTP reports are also uploads.
Fixed monthly reports when using Peet Bros computers.
Added Daily Summary report.
Consolidated Vantage Pro DLLs to use latest version from Davis. Now WeatherLink USB and serial interfaces are supported in the same version. VP users should install WeatherLink 5.9.0.

I really like the highlighting of the 16 points on the new wind rose!

I really like the highlighting of the 16 points on the new wind rose! I was interested in that feature and look forward to seeing it when I get the chance to upgrade. How is the daily summary report, by the way? Seems like a neat new feature as well. I was also wondering if it matters if I do the suggested upgrade to WeatherLink 5.9.0 (5.9.1 now, I think)...I've heard some problems w/it on wxforum.net and was going to wait for the next upgrade for WeatherLink.

The daily summary report is, in my view, another nice new feature.
I had many problems with WeatherLink 5.9 myself, including loss of all uploading features. I deinstalled it, went back to 5.8.something, and WxSolution is working fine. Perhaps deinstalling WeatherLink 5.9 left behind the new DLL that WxSolution is looking for. So, you may want to try that very thing - install WL 5.9, and deinstall it, and try the new WxSolution version. No guarantees, but that all worked fine - if unintentionally - for me.

I just saw examples of the new wind rose feature and daily summary reports online. Suffice to say, I'm definitely excited about the update, and will complete it next time I have the chance (next weekend). Thanks for the suggestion. I do run both simultaneously with VirtualVP, so it seems like the prudent thing to do. I feel like I'd probably be better off not even trying to run 5.9; I'll probably just install and uninstall before running it, to avoid any problems.

Went through and downloaded both WL 5.9.1 and WxSolution 1.8.5.2 today. Big problems arose.
So I first downloaded WL 5.9.1, then went straight to download WxSolution 1.8.5.2. I then opened WxSolution, but found that the software did not want to communicate with my VP2 (this is through VirtualVP). I eventually did get the two to communicate, but then WxSolution loses contact with the console quickly. It seems to gradually lag behind the console, reporting everything about 3x slower than the console before eventually losing the VP2 completely.
I have since deleted WL 5.9.1 and am actually back to 5.6. I had 5.8.3, but no longer have the exe so had to go back to 5.6. (EDIT: I got the exe for 5.8.3 and went back to that again since).
I also went straight back to the last version of WxSolution I had the exe for, which was 1.8.4. It is running perfectly. I'd like to use those new features, but at least I have a version of the program running.
So I wonder what the problem could have been. I suppose I could unplug the datalogger, get WL 5.9.1 again, then get WxS 1.8.5.2 again and see what happens again. But I'm not sure if that's worth it. Either way, very odd problem, but I'm just glad to have a working version of WxSolution running. I suppose I could download WxS 1.8.5.2, run it offline and generate the reports I want, then go back to 1.8.4. It would be a bit of a clumsy workaround, but at least I'd have access to the new wind rose feature and daily summary report. I just couldn't run 1.8.5.2 continuously.

I had the exact same issues. I reverted back to WxSolution 1.8.4.2 and it's working fine with Weatherlink 5.9.1

I had the exact same issues. I reverted back to WxSolution 1.8.4.2 and it's working fine with Weatherlink 5.9.1 Thanks for replying and glad to hear that you were able to successfully revert to an older version as well. I sent an e-mail about the issue to Dan Hanson on Saturday, so I'm sure the issue will be resolved, but for now I'm doing fine with 1.8.4. I did install 1.8.5.2 and run it offline to generate LCD reports with the new windrose feature. It's an excellent feature and I actually went back and re-did all the monthly LCD pdfs from my station's inception in 2006 in order to update the windroses. I then reverted to 1.8.4 again to run with the VP2.
